Welcome to Saint Jerome Catholic Youth Organization! The CYO operates as part of Saint Jerome Parish on behalf of the youth of this parish. Our purpose is to help foster in our members a greater awareness of their life within the parish, and to help instill Christian values based on the Gospel. Saint Jerome CYO provides an opportunities for the growth of our members through athletic, social, service, cultural, and, above all, spiritual programs which will help to fulfill our mission of service to the youth of our parish.
Requirements for CYO activity participation are as follows:
ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES - Each member of the CYO must maintain a passing grade (70 or better) in each subject including conduct, in order to participate in CYO athletics. Students who have failed one academic subject will be suspended from participation in all athletic activities and practice for a minimum period of one week. Students who have failed two academic subjects will be suspended from participation in all athletic activities and practice for a minimum period of two weeks. Students who have failed three or more academic subjects will not be permitted to participate in any athletic activity for the remainder of the season. The moderator will help to coordinate assistance for the student so that a more satisfactory performance is achieved.
DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES - Any member of CYO suspended from school for disciplinary infractions will be immediately suspended from CYO activities. CYO activities are a privilege, not a right. If a member is unable to interact in an acceptable manner in the social setting of school, the CYO must be concerned about his/her ability to interact in other social settings. In the case of disciplinary suspension from school, the CYO moderator will meet with the principal of the school (if St. Jerome's) to determine the severity of the infraction and the steps needed to be taken before readmission to CYO activities. In addition, the moderator will consult with the student and his/her parents to determine the extent of the problem and what assistance can be offered to help correct the situation.
SOCIAL, SERVICE AND SPIRITUAL PARTICIPATION: All participating members of CYO are expected to support the CYO through active participation in service activities, social programs offered, and active participation in all spiritual programs offered. A calendar of events will be published detailing these events. Consistent lack of participation will be noted and questioned by the moderator, when deemed necessary.
